Skirt or Pants?

Today I have one of these days when I can't decide if I want to wear skirts or pants, so I  have finally created two similar looks changing only the amount of covering to my legs. Now what's your choice, skirts or pants?

Thinking out of the box

I was reading a very interesting post yesterday from Sazzy Nirpaw about the hard balance models have to face trying to find that hard balance between showing the garment as the designer made it to be worn and "being original and thinking out of the box" to be considered a good stylist.

The post made me think and I realized that I am always pretty safe when working on my stylings, probably because I understand how completely deforming an item can be irritating for the creator: it wasn't how he/she designed it, so you are actually "destroying his/her" creation. The reason I blog is to show you items I love, and hopefully, make you go to the store and buy them, therefore supporting the creators I admire, which I think is the main role of every model in Second Life and what I've been trying to achieve since I became a model in SL back in 2008. Other than some fitting and some color edition I hardly ever break an item into different pieces to use them as part of another outfit, or accessorize a complete outfit with pieces from another designer. That's just not what I do, and that's certainly not what the designers that trust in me to show off their creations expect me to do either.

That being said, I must confess I admire that different approach to modeling in SL that focuses more in fashion than in the actual designer, it is probably much more creative and eye catching than just wearing the creation and adding just the correct amount of items to make it look amazing, but then you are creating your own look, not promoting designer items. If a customer goes to the store in order to purchase what he/she saw you wearing, they will not find it, and if they do buy something, sometimes they may even feel deceived.

Like I already stated, for me that approach focuses more into fashion in general than in the actual garments or designers, it is a form of art, a form of expression and a way to promote yourself as a model or stylist, but probably not the best possible way to promote said designer items. For myself, I will stick to what I consider my job, to show the garments in the best possible way in order to make you run to the store and buy them, and I will still consider myself a good stylist on the meantime.

I will also continue enjoying all these amazing stylings created by other models out there who are capable of "thinking out of the box" creating great looks with the items they have been given keeping that balance between designer creation and creativity.

Everything else, will still be considered a form of art, but not modeling for me.

Learning to Decorate with The Arcade - The Wizard Castle

Now that you know you are a complete mess, your inventory is a complete mess and your house is a complete mess is about time to put some order in your SLife. The easier way to do that is to find a theme (or 2) around which we will organize all our recently acquired Arcade Items. Like I already introduced in my previous post I decided to spread items in 4 different themes and today I proudly present you, the second one The Wizard Castle.

I started this set using the amazing bookshelves from Alouette named You are a Wizard, which gave me the main idea for this set.  I edited them to remove some things from the shelves and included a lot of different items from other gatcha machines, like some of O.M.E.N. - Fairytale Gatcha pretties, Lark - Imaginarium Librarium perfectly made shinies and the delicate and beautiful Baiastice Porcelaine Fairies, my preciousssssss!!!

The Wizard

But I just couldn't stop there. Now that I had finally started a Fantasy post, away from the usual fashion stylings from this blog, I felt the need to match some outfits. I love playing MMORPGS, at the moment I am back into RIFT which became Free- to-Play not long ago and one of the things I have always enjoyed of roleplaying games is wearing different armors, from chain to leather and beautiful silk dresses. So I styled two different outfits for this post. The first one (the wizard on the above picture) is from an amazing store I found called "Losthaven" that provides high quality roleplaying gear, armors and weapons from all sorts. It was hard to choose one, it really was, but this "Lady Diabolique" mesh dress really got me on first sight, I still need to return and get one of these incredible WoW armor sets *drools* ...soon...

The Warrior

For the second styling I needed a warrior or paladin armor to match my  Sword of Might from DECO Legends, and whenever I am in a hurry to find something in particular, there is a place I know I can head to and quickly find exactly what I need, that place is no other than BareRose Tokyo  from June Dion. I must confess I got 4 different outfits on this trip, and that is the problem with BareRose, I can never leave with just one bag. June that's why I don't visit you more often, even with your low prices you would get me broke in No Time!

I just hope you enjoyed the Second Phase of my Learning to Decorate endeavour, even if I ended up redirecting it to fashion *giggles* I will be back soon with my balloon trip.
